Hi everyone, I hope this newsletter finds you well. I wanted to thank you all for following me and for your support this year. I’ve loved chatting to so many of you over virtual skincare consultations and am looking forward to offering more of these next year. I just wanted to tell you a little bit about what’s been happening with me at Ali Young beauty in 2023, as well as a sneak preview of what’s to come in January.

It’s been a very busy year working internationally with consultancy brands, as well as TV and behind the scenes in the industry, judging and campaigning. I still to this day am enthused by the beauty industry because the most important person is you, the customer, and that keeps me motivated to constantly find effective products and brands with integrity and an honest approach.

One of the most frequently asked questions I’ve received this year has been to do with my weight loss, which has all been part of a complete review of my overall health (with approval from my doctor) and taking a more scientific approach to supplementation.

Looking ahead, I’ll share a lot more information in January as that’s always the easiest time to start a healthier lifestyle with a fresh approach to the new year. If you wanted to start now however, I’ve been taking some supplements from The Naked Pharmacy, and the most important one that started me on my journey was Metabolic Gold which contains the highest strength, pharmaceutical grade bergamot fruit extract and artichoke leaf extract that help to improve both cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors. I’ve found this has really helped me to balance my intake of sugar and carbohydrates, as well as all the other health benefits, which has taken away my sweet tooth.

My January newsletter and social will feature a lot of my proven, get-healthy tips that have worked for me this year, and while no one should ever feel that they need to change the way they look, I decided to focus on changing a few habits because of medical advice and wanting to feel healthier for my long term wellbeing. It has been an up and down journey, but I’ll tell you more about that in January so make sure you are following me across social here.

Many of you have also asked how to get your skin glowing in the winter months, as it can become dry and dehydrated not only from the cold weather, but also the central heating.

My top 5 tips to keep skin hydrated and looking healthy are:

1) Exfoliate more. By increasing exfoliation, this will aid the penetration of your other products and will help them perform and absorb better. If you have oily skin, you could exfoliate once a week, and if your skin is normal or dry, try exfoliating three times per week.

2) Never let your skin dry out. If you’re having a bath or shower, leave your cleanser on until you’re ready to get out, and then remove. If you’ve already cleansed, pop on a few drops of oil before getting in the bath or shower to add a layer of protection.

3) Add a drop of oil to your makeup base. This will help to keep the skin supple and hydrated.

4) Layer your products. Just like clothing, adding an extra layer of a serum or oil underneath your moisturiser will help to add extra hydration.

5) Don’t forget your hair, nails, cuticles and hands. Using hair masks and richer products, hand and cuticle creams will be essential for protection and comfort in the colder months.

I hope you find these tips helpful and can easily add a few of them into your beauty routine.

During this festive period, I appreciate not everyone celebrates Christmas, but I hope that you get some time to be with family and friends, and most importantly have some time for yourself. I also recognise that it can be a very difficult time for some, and I would encourage you to keep talking and reach out to organisations such as the Samaritans and Mind, or your GP.

As usual at Christmas for us, I will be trying to co-ordinate mucking out the horses, dealing with the weather, walking the dogs, tidying the house and aiming to try and have matching knives and forks (table settings are not my skill!). And not forgetting no doubt being shouted at to not drink too much mulled wine while mucking out, so that the eternally glorious roast potatoes are not ruined!

All that leaves me to say is look after yourselves and Happy New Year to you all. If you’re working over the Christmas period, do make sure you are able to get a little downtime for yourself.

Love, Alison xx
