The Beauty Insider: CEW Showcase & 2023 Beauty Awards

I recently presented the CEW awards and wanted to share with you a little bit of insight as to why, when there are already so many different awards in the industry, this is one of the most prestigious and is known as the ‘Beauty Oscars’. The awards are voted for by fellow peers within the beauty industry, from beauty brand owners, trainers, make-up artists, formulators and PR teams to beauty retailers and their management teams – all of these various parts of the industry are members of CEW – the Cosmetic Executive Women (however, it is of course open to all genders). So if any of you are working in the cosmetic industry, or wish to, then I would definitely recommend becoming a CEW member.

Alison Young & Margaret Dabbs

Here are a few of my favourite brands that were lucky enough to scoop a CEW ‘Oscar’ – a prestigious Lalique statue!

Best New Skin Prep (prestige) AND Best New Brand

Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas Primer

This divine elegant serum gives your skin the feeling of silk and is a make-up application dream.

Best New Targeted Skincare (mass)

La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Eye Serum

Super gentle but fast-acting hydration serum to target tired and dehydrated eyes, suitable for all!

Best New Mask
Neal’s Yard Remedies Frankincense Intense Overnight Mask

As an aromatherapist I’ve loved this brand for years. This delicious essential oil mask is a must for ageing, dry and slackened skin.

Best New Lip Makeup (Prestige)

Hourglass Cosmetics, Unlocked Satin Creme Lipstick

High praise indeed when cosmetic industry professionals vote for this and wear it! My fave colour is Dove 316, Soft Pink Peach.

Best New Fragrance (Prestige)

Molton Brown Rose Dunes EDT

Whenever I wear Molton Brown, not only do I love it but others comment. A sure sign of a great fragrance.

From the consumer choice awards (you can find information on how to vote next year via the CEW website), I would recommend:

Best New Vegan Product

Aveda Scalp Solutions Exfoliating Treatment

This is fantastic as a detoxer for both scalp and hair. Helps with root volume, hair brightness and shine.

I have also recently hosted an Instagram Live with Sallie Berkerey, Managing Director of CEW, where we chatted all things beauty industry and how CEW supports the beauty industry, as well as the awards. You can catch up here.
