Winter weather, warming soups and beauty hacks

Winter Beauty Hack

This wet winter weather has truly hit us!! Central heating on, a leaking roof and horses in winter rugs waiting to be clipped! This dampness can play havoc with our hair so a serum is a must!  I recently shared how great the Percy and Reed on is in woman and home magazine.  At the moment QVC have the new limited-edition fragrance in a double size.  Pop onto damp hair to improve all hair textures before a blow dry.

Winter Warming Soup Recipe

At this time of year, the family soup recipe is a fav and can be made into several different types of meals. Simmer any pulses with stock cubes for 1 and a half hours. Add as many different root vegetables as you have cubed and cook until soft.  I like parsnip, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes and carrots.  Season, cool and pop in the fridge. I do the biggest pan I have full and keep it very thick as you can then add water to make a soup, grate cheese on top for a vegetable casserole, cube ham or chicken in for a stew, liquidise and add milk for a creamy soup or add some curry powder for a warming soup!! It’s so delicious, I can live on it! For a twist at the beginning cook with cider!

Winter Candles

Candles are a must in my house and as you know they come in all different price points but this Charles Farris one is always a winner and with the Royal Warrant it has some other fans too!  It’s also a great price for the quality!  I like the ones in tins as they are easy to put out just by popping the lid on – so no smoke.  This one, for me, is the best from this brand with the most intense sophisticated floral aroma that lasts and can fill a large room – everyone comments.
