I hope you all had a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend and managed to put aside some time for selfcare. Sometimes when life is busy, it’s not always easy to recognise when you need a break but there are little things you can do to help de-stress from the day.
Selfcare fit for a Queen
I love blending essential oils to create bespoke fragrances to achieve different moods in different rooms in my home and a little selfcare. The easiest way to do this is with an atomiser, I bought this one some time ago from Neal’s Yard. It nice and neat and comes with a dimmer option. It’s definitely stood the test of time!

I also adore a scented candle and one of my favourites at the moment is the Garden of Eden one from Charles Farris, an economical but great fragrance too. Charles Farris also happens to be a Royal Warrant holder to the Queen so we’re in good company!

Beauty Hack
Something which has regularly been brought up in discussion with clients and journalists alike has been sore skin and rashes. In this hot and muggy weather, the skin has been sensitised and makeup application is causing friction on the skin, especially when your brushes are not cleaned regularly. If like myself, your skin reacts to brush cleaner, it may be safest to wash your brushes with your regular face wash or shampoo. Don’t forget to clean your beauty blenders and sponges too!

And I would walk 500 miles…
Well maybe not 500 miles but Zelda has started walking on the treadmill now so thank you for all your good wishes!

Dates for your diary
I have my regular Beauty Insider show tonight at 8pm followed by a live Q&A on both my Facebook and Instagram page! It’s proven to be very popular so thank you for being part of it! I’ll try and get through as many questions as I can, and I’ll use any questions we don’t get time to answer for my next FAQ filming. Make sure you check the FAQ section on my website alisonyoungbeauty.com if I didn’t manage to answer your question.

I will also be hosting the annual Beauty Excellence Awards on QVC this Friday 30th August. You’ve been voting for your winner and all will be revealed during our 2-hour live show starting at 10pm! I hope you’ll be able to join us! I’d love to know what your favourite brand on QVC is! Let me know in the comments below.

Help Alison. I have a Soya allergy, 70% of food now produced has it in it. Now I am finding it in beauty products ie: skin sense eye cream, tocopherol from Soya is now in many products. But I am unable to find out which ones, after 3 weeks QVC were unable to find out if IT cosmetics have it. Any advice would be welcome if you know of any that don’t. It also includes E306,307,308 and 309. Thank you for your time
Regards Sharon carmichael
I’d love to nominate Judith Williams Retinol collections I’m on my second serum eye cream day and night cream and it’s been really good on my skin
Lovely post and Zelda is so cute! I like the Neal’s Yard range and tempted by the atomiser. Also tempted by the candle and adore fragrances around the house. Looking forward to the beauty awards and I always watch. Did have a good bank holiday helping out with gardening but managed to spill boiling hot tea from a flask down my chin. Have been applying aloe vera which has soothed but what would you recommend for helping with possible scaring as area has been very red and keeps peeling. I know it will fade but what is best for keeping it healthy and helping the healing process. Many thanks.
I really enjoy reading your blogs. It’s a great insight into the beauty industry. I always watch your facebook q and a”s, but tends to be on catch up.
I have voted for my favourites. I really hope Alpha H wins something, they never seem to. I love these products. I do like cleanse and polish and have voted for them each year, but this time I’m hoping it’s the balancing cleanser from Alpha H
